RUUD Heat Pump UPKA 036JAZ

Post by cujok » Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:36 am

My condenser fan is making noise and eventually slows down and stops running if it has to run for an extended period of time. I have ordered a motor (part 51-21853-01) from NorthAmericanHVAC but it won't be here until Friday. My question is the motor says it requires a 3uf 370 volt capacitor. The one that is currently in there is a 40+3uf 440 volts. Will this work or do I have to replace it?

Thanks - Jerry

Always replace/use the capacitor with an identical one or use the one that the manufacturer calls for. Using the wrong capacitor can burn our a motor very quickly. 330 or 440 volts doesn't matter but the microfarad value(s) are critical.
