Fan motor turns off when Compressor turns on

i have a gibson package unit that when the compressor turns on the fan motor turns off, it repeatedly tries to turn back on but to no avail. i have bypassed the thermostat and hard wired the red and green together and when i connect the red and yellow to start the compressor the fan shuts down. thanks for any feed back

Did you check the wiring on the capacitor

the capacitor is wired correctly but i havent checked to see if it is working correctly. does it seems like this problem could be caused by the *

Simplest and least expensive thing to do is replace the capacitor. I am assuming the fan you refer to is the one in the condenser. Be sure you get an exact capacitor replacement in terms of micro farads and voltage, although the voltage can be greater than the existing.

Why did you jump out the blower * Put the t-stat back together and call a technician before you hurt yourself.
