Problem with furnace

Post by wornout2 » Sun May 05, 2013 1:14 pm

I have a 2000 Trane 80% furnace. When it calls for heat the draft inducer motor will start & runs for about 2 seconds then shuts off & then blower motor comes on. The code light flashes 9 times(says to check igniter). When the inducer motor is on for 2 seconds there is power to igniter. Have checked roll out switches & limits. Could thus be the circuit board.

Thanks
Tom

Temporarily jumper the inducer pressure switch and see if the behavior changes. At any time do you hear the gas valve open.

Since the ignitor glows I would expect the gas valve to open shortly thereafter. It is possible the inducer pressure switch is shutting everything down... that's why you want to jumper it. The blower should come on after approximately 30 seconds after the burners are lit. Since things are acting very strange, it very well could be a flaky circuit board. Check it closely for cold solder joints.
