Have one unit that gives off slight gas odor before actually firing.The smell is in the room below,and then the heat works.Is this an exchanger issue?

does it smell like raw gas or exhaust ?

soundsd like delayed ignition from an improper ignitor. in other words it * * needs ajusting,
