Temperature settings

I have a Amana furnace thats is about 3 years old. The problem is if I set the thermostat to 66 the furnace heats up the house fine but is not warm enough for us. The problem is if I set it to 67 it will run for several hours befor shutting off. Is there a way to have it cycle better?

The red led blinked once when first starting up and nothing after that.

sounds like a defective thermostat to me. it's digital, right ?
