Furnace just keeps purging

I have an older Carrier natural gas furnace( model # 398AAW0360800). When I turn the thermostat to heat the purge fan comes on and the pilot ignites.......thats it...the main valve doesn't seem to come on and it just purges forever. There are no LED lights to help troubleshoot.

I found the problem....the flame sensor on the pilot light is no good. I temporarily jumped it out and it worked. Will replace the pilot assembly.

I had the same problem with my Lennox gas furnace. Have you tried power cycling the * Power cycling fixed my problem temporarily but I eventually needed to replace the control board.

i was a little puzzled by that statement myself dilkey. if you jumpered out a control with two wires near the burner, it could be a safety device - maybe a rollout sensor. if you do not understand these controls and what they are for, you could be creating a fire hazard. there is nothing there that should be jumpered to allow the furnace to run.
