AC doesn't turn off at set temperature

I had an old mercury based thermostat from honey well. For the past few weeks the AC was running continuously without stopping at the set temperature. I suspected the thermostat has gone bad. Replaced it with a new digital honey well pro 2000. But still have the same problem. The AC is still running continuously and doesn't turn off at the set temperature. Is this a problem with the AC unit or thermostat or wiring? Thanks.

could be a stuck contactor or shorted control wire.

My guess is that there is a short in your control panel somewhere. Make sure all the soldering is correct.
