LCD display on thermostat is blank

Hi. I'm hoping one of the HVAC experts can help. I've got a gas furnace and today I bought a new thermostat after the old one seemed to go bad. It is digital and had show low batteries. When I replaced it with new batteries, the display was blank.

So when I bought the new thermostat (low voltage manual type) I've tried to replace the wires by color to the appropriate W, B, G, and R places. There is no R screw, only the RH and RC. I think it was a mistake to put the b on the b screw. The little booklet shows the b screw empty.

Any help?

What do you mean? You put the blue wire on the b screw? If you did it would not do anything unless that wire was connected to common at the furnace. Did you turn off the power to the unit when replacing the t-stat. If not you could have blown the low voltage fuse or burned the t-former. At any rate stop messing with it before you screw it up.
