Is there any problem with placing the intake/exhaust PVC pipes vertically from the basement all the way up to the * Would not insulating these pipes in the attic cause any *

My furnace is a Trane XV 95. Hope this helps.

No you cannot, are you a diyer if so a 95% furnace is nothing to play with.

I'm not a diyer....My HVAC guy installed it this way in a brand new house.

However there are restrictions as to total equivalent pipe length (inlet and exhaust) based on pipe diameter. Equivalent length is not only the length of straight pieces but also the effect of elbows on air flow. If there is too much friction you may not get the necessary air flow for combustion. The equivalent length is based on the size (BTU/hr) of your furnace, which we do not know.
