The higher the seer the more potential for headaches. This high seer equipment is very sensitive to outside influences and they have many more parts than the lower seer counterparts. My view is simple the better. Yes high seer units are energy savers but if not done exactly right won't make a difference then they will start malfunctioning and big dollars to fix. Take for instance a variable speed odf motor generally about 6 to 800 bucks cost, plus labor trip charge profit etc. your around 1300 plus for a motor. You can buy a new 13 seer condenser for that. That is my point.
