Short to ground. Probably the compressor. Cha ching.

Many possibilities. You need to see the electric circuitry at the compressor first. Pull the disconnect and examine looking for signs of burnt wires, a distorted shape to the capacitor or the contactor welded closed. Stop resetting the breaker for now.
