DanFoss and Old buildings

I do all the caretaking at the complex I am at. lately I have been running into an issue, and would like to know if someone can cleare it up .

The building was built in 1964. all of the valves are of white handle, red stripe and black base that narrows.
I replaced the faulty ones with newer models since that one is not available anywhere.
They dont seem to seat well like the old ones did.

problem, once seated (as best as I think they go) (dials are all 1-5)
1. the heat will turn off at #4
2. if i adjust it by hand so all ranges work, tightening it will make it set high or low.

this is the same for the twist base style, which I think are worse.
When it starts to get this frustrating, I know it is some thing simple I am not doing.

The newer ones im tring to use, the "twist on"type is a RA 2000 (013g8250)
the next one i got, was close in design as the original, but still had a seating issue. RA 2000(013g8240), this one has the allen head screw to tighting.
while it twist on correctly, it wil not regulate properly - it becomes the 'ON" or 'OFF" with very little variation

the original is like the RA 2000(013g8240), but has a black base, and it a tad longer.
there is no model number

a note about the allen head styles, tightening these securly also seem to affect the flow. so I believe that we're trying to attach new models on old pipes.

I think you are correct about the newer valves not seating correctly. The valves may also be for a different temperature range but that's just a guess. Your best hope for the correct answer is from DanFoss directly, possibly by email. Without physically being able to play with the valves it's impossible for me to really understand what is happening. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks for your feedback. We totally agree that pictures and url's would be helpful. Unfortunately the moment we allow these features, our system is hacked. We are hit on average about 1000 break-in attempts per day or over run with automated spam bots trying to offer creative ways to have a better life with the Mrs. On top of that, we had many people trying to advertise / sell products on their own *commercial* HVAC website for free. While other sites offer these features, we don't have the full time administrative resources. This board is one of the few remaining that is 100% run by the members / technicians who are retired or working all hours of the day/night. We don't sell anything and offer 100% free support. We will continue to investigate how to accomodate photos in the near future. Thanks again for your feedback - we will do something about it.
