furnace will not start, It`s cold please help

My Armstrong FAG furnace will not start. The pilot comes on and I can hear the furnace trying to start but it won` come on. It keeps trying to restart. I suspect the gas valve. honeywell VR82044 1097. Could it be the electronic component

Follow theduke03's good advice. What you should be seeing, and hearing, is the gas valve opening for the pilot to light, then the pilot lights, stays for a few seconds, then you'll hear the gas valve close and the pilot goes out. The process then repeats itself. If this is not what you observe, please tell us what happens. Watch the furnace ignition sequence as someone else calls for heat at the thermostat.
